High rate of inappropriate antibiotic prescriptions in US, research finds

An estimated 30 percent of outpatient oral antibiotic prescriptions in the US in 2010-2011 may have been inappropriate, findings that support the need for establishing a goal for outpatient antibiotic stewardship, according to a study.
